I am a Cumbrian based printmaker. When I first started etching I used the architectural inspiration I found on my doorstep in my home town of Kendal, Cumbria. In Kendal, the buildings are stacked up on a hill (like a hill town in Italy, but with more rain!) which gives lots of brilliant views across rooftops. My interest in buildings originally stems from my parents. While I was growing up my Dad was an architectural draughtsman and building inspector and my Mum worked for an estate agent and so my childhood was filled with talk of plans and buildings. Now my work is a bit looser – it’s all about structures not just townscapes but coastal structures, lighthouses and transmission masts. The moon also creeps into my work from time to time
I work from Market Place Studios in Kendal, alongside 6 other artists. I really enjoy making new work, selling at art fairs around the country and getting to meet and talk to my customers. It makes for an interesting life.
Jamie's prints, cards and unique etched jewellery can be purchased from this website or from Jamie in person at one of the print fairs he attends around the country - upcoming fairs are listed on the events page.
