After my recent trip to Liverpool, I went across the water to the Lady Lever Gallery in Port Sunlight to catch the new Rembrandt in Print exhibition. Port Sunlight was a planned village for the Sunlight Soap company and Lord Lever made this gallery in his wife’s memory - it’s an absolutely fabulous place. In the exhibition they have 40 original Rembrandt etchings for you to look at. They have even provided magnifying glasses so you can get really close and examine the fabulous facility this man had for etching. It’s almost like he was a time traveller. He was extraordinary no one else was doing what he was doing. I took a great interest in the backgrounds of these etchings. The landscapes, behind the main action, were beautifully and simply described. I can’t tell you how amazed I was by these originals. I urge you if you can to go to this exhibition which is on to the 15th September 2019.
